If you are a parent and are in search of the best tips for the betterment of your child, you are at the right place. Without any further ado let’s start.

1. Physical touch with newborn

In the early stage of infants, doctors suggest having more physical and skin to skin contact so they can better develop connections with parents.

2. Clean and fresh air for newborn

When you have a newborn in the house, use a humidifier and keep the inner air clean with germs, disinfectant sprays.

3. Teach your baby to express

Babies can’t talk and learning to talk will take some time. So teach them about emotions and feelings so that they can express them from an early age.

4. Don’t force-feed

Though it’s important to train kids for healthy eating habits, kids eat as much as their body needs. So it’s better not to force them at every mealtime and let them feel the need to eat.

5. Involve kids in food preparation

Taking kids for grocery shopping and involving them in the cooking process allows them to explore flavors. Following this rule will help kids to taste new food.

6. Allow kids to help with the menu

When kids can sometimes decide the menu for a meal, they take more interest. And they also feel the responsibility of eating that dish, or at least trying it.

7. Toilet train at the right time

This is a very important stage in toddlers’ life, and they do it at their own pace. So don’t hurry to spoil the timing, and then toilet training will become a hassle.

A good potty chair can be used to make the process smooth and easy for children. And you will find one in the link in that will help nicely.

Toilet train at the right time
  • Realistic training toilet that looks & feels just like an adult version
  • Real life-like toilet flushing sound when you press the flush button
  • The potty seat lid opens & closes & pot is removable for super Easy cleaning. Splash guard for both boys and girls.

8. Provide a nice bedtime routine

Make the bedtime nice and calm so that children don’t struggle with bedtime. Rather, they look forward to it for a nice story time or happy cuddle time or soothing time.

9. Keep away the distractions while bedtime

In the bedroom where children sleep, try to minimize the number of stuff. Like a bed, a chair, a few stories, and a cuddly stuffed toy are more than enough.

10. Avoid the noise at bedtime

Loud music or children screaming and playing while in pjs is not a good way to end the day. This way they will become hyperactive and will sleep late.

11. Don’t have heavy talks before sleep

With serious talks about emotions and scary things before sleep, they will sleep with a stressful mind. Due to which they can’t have a good night’s sleep and will wake up with nightmares.

12. Helping them to sleep independently

The best way is to take the kids to bed when they are very sleepy, but their eyes are not closed yet. It will help them to learn to sleep on their own.

13. A choice of toys

Tell them what is a good choice but let them choose toys for themselves so they learn to stay busy playing with their toys.

14. Pretend-play for thinking skills

Make your children more imaginative and develop great thinking skills with pretend play.

15. Teach them reading habit

Books are the best friends of a human. Not only can they be used for time to pass, but they give you a lot of knowledge. They teach you the tactics and strategies for any field of life.

16. Limit Screen Time

Less screen time whether it be on television on any gadget keeps children safe from laziness and obesity.[1] Children spend more time interacting with family members through play or talks.

17. More physical exertion

When kids are regularly more involved in physical exercises and activities, they have more chances of developing a good heart, brain, muscles.

18. Keep house hazard free

The house must be kept safe and protected for young children so that if parents are busy with chores, children are not caught in trouble. So keeping sharp tools away from children’s reach or protecting the staircase with the gates will avoid worse situations.

19. Every time a secret check

When kids are with nannies or babysitters, parents should keep a good check on the children. This can be done through hidden cameras so that bad babysitters could be urgently removed from the duty.

20. Don’t start education before 5 or 6 years of age

Psychologists in any era have always mentioned the negative impacts of early childhood education. In many countries now we see an increasing trend of admitting children in school from the age of 5 or 6.

21. Come to child level

When you are talking to a toddler to teach them about something and standing tall in front of them, it will not help. You sound and seem like a giant who only scared the child.

So sit down and come to a child’s level where your face is right in front of their eyes. Now when you are speaking to them they are listening carefully and trying to understand, and your talk will leave a positive impact.

22. Listen Actively

At every age but specifically, when children are very young, the best parenting strategy is to be an active listener. Completely concentrate and constantly listen to them to have a better understanding of your child’s nature and get well connected to them.

23. Interact while listening

Listening doesn’t mean staying quiet all the time while children are speaking. Sometimes ask questions or share your opinion so that kids are sure you are listening to them carefully.

24. Don’t speak but show

This is a very important tip when kids are in their early childhood. It means speaking to kids will not help much because they don’t understand your words.

So the best way is to show them with your actions in daily life to teach them important manners or lessons.[2]

25. Provide a formula

It’s better to make a proper note with steps clearly written to follow during strong emotions episodes. This will provide them a clear understanding of visual instructions.

26. Set boundaries

Children by nature want to explore the world safely. To help them set boundaries so they can safely discover many fascinating things surrounding them.

27. Understand the different phases

Children undergo different developmental phases, which according to psychologists have separate requirements. So it’s better to get a good knowledge of these phases.

28. Help them when anxious

When they are having a meltdown, don’t just leave by giving time-outs. But closely help them fight the anxiety and recover soon from the anxious mindset.

29. Don’t let the situation prolong

If this happens children will develop negative emotions and will become revengeful and poor in coping with meltdowns.

30. Don’t pamper them

Children need to learn skills and to be independent so they don’t demand everything. Rather if they are capable, let them dress up themselves, or take their plate to the kitchen, or help clean away toys.

31. Limit the sugar intake

Treats on special occasions and days is ok but giving treats more often to children is a dangerous sign. This will not only affect physical health but also mental health.

32. Don’t provide solutions to every problem

When children are facing some problem while playing or doing some activity, don’t jump in to help them. Let them think or try to solve their little problems that will help build their confidence.

33. Let kids resolve their conflicts with peers

Give children some time to think and resolve their conflicts with their peers. But also teach them good social skills so they know aggression is not the only solution to many conflicts.[3]

34. Discipline with the best structure

Disciplining kids doesn’t mean punishing them hard so that they forget about doing anything wrong. Using a proper discipline structure like consequences, setting limits, a reward system for good deeds will help kids to be kind, considerate, and competent. [4]

35. Don’t nag over small things

If you want your words not to lose their value, don’t struggle with kids over small things like dressing up with mismatched clothes or screaming loud sometimes while playing. Rather focus on the main issues of telling the truth, hitting is bad, being nice to siblings.

36. Uninterrupted time of the day

Allocate a time each day that will be special for your kids when you will actively play with them without any interruption.

37. Develop one special activity with each parent

This will help them to have a special bond with each parent.

38. Confess your mistakes

Parenting doesn’t always mean to command and teach, but sometimes adults also make mistakes. When parents confess in front of kids, it will help kids to learn about apologizing when mistakes are made.

39. Tell them how you cope with difficult situations

If you share your sadness and how you overcome it, they will feel the emotions are real and learn interestingly.

40. Use facts, not fairy tales

You want your kid to learn the right things and the truth about everything. So tell them the truth, so they behave the right way and know the right thing to do.

41. Show affection to the spouse in front of kids

If you want to raise children who become loving, caring and kind adults not only for society but especially for their life partner, follow this rule.

42. Make a team with better-half

When parents conflict with each other over parenting, children tend to take advantage of it. They try to get their needs from one or the other.

43. Stay away from differences with spouses

Having many differences on various matters and increased cold fights will cause a long distance between spouses. This will lead to insecure feelings in the children that can harm their mental health.[5]

44. Communicate in small sentences

Children are unable to understand and take the message from long instructions or lessons.

Keeping sentences short and to the point will work like magic.

45. Natural and little consequences

Keep consequences easy and natural so that children learn truly from their mistakes. Taking away all the privileges will make them indifferent.

46. Be specific while praising

When you want to appreciate a specific act, don’t just say “you are amazing” rather praise the way they acted in a particular situation. Children are not able to understand general meanings.

47. Share your kids’ good behavior with others

When children listen to their parents, talking to others about their nice acts and good behavior, children feel proud and continue to behave nicely.

48. Use affectionate words more often

Calling them honey or sweetheart or my love would make them happy to listen to you. Also, tell them every day that you love them and shower kisses and hugs. They will feel lovable and an important individual.[6]

49. Make memories

We all know parenting is the toughest job that exhausts you the most, but children will be little for only a little while. At their young age make as many memories as a family as possible because later they will be busy in their own lives.

50. Don’t provide too much information

Children are under the process of brain development, so they can’t process a lot of information. Keep your worries, fears, and exasperation away from them.

51. Don’t rush all the time

Sometimes it’s important to sit and spend some time talking to your children. It will help you connect with the child in a better way.

52. Break from busy routine is good

Parents have a lot of responsibilities from cleaning the house to laundry to kitchen work to child care, and all this goes on all day long. Having a break from a daily routine like ordering food would not make you a neglectful parent.

53. Don’t use harsh punishments

Using harsh punishments is just out of the question because they never ever solve the problem but worsen the situation. Harsh verbal and physical discipline will cause serious behavioral problems in children.[7]

54. No disrespect rule for kids

Don’t let children disrespect you in any kind of situation, even when children are facing some genuine problems. Once they do, it, this will give a signal to their not fully developed brain that there are situations when they can do it.

55. Be consistent with parenting rules

When you are teaching kids values and good behaviors, be consistent in that. Wherever they are, whoever they deal with at any time, implement all the rules in every situation.

56. Talk about their strong feelings

Acknowledge and talk about emotions after a tantrum is over and let them learn about feelings and how to cope with them.

58. Teach house chores

Teaching kids the age-appropriate house chores will make them more responsible, which will lead to a successful life.

If you want your child to be a positive thinker, a better human being, trustworthy, then show them the importance of these values and how it helps to spread positivity.

63. Trust them fully

Don’t doubt them all the time for their actions rather show them frequently you trust them. They will become trustworthy in this way and will be reliable among their peers.

64. Let them choose what they want

Giving them the right direction to choose a good career is very good. But forcing them to opt for what you want will only let them lose interest in studies and career.

65. Give more to get more

Children who get more of their parent’s quality time, when parents are actively participating, are more likely to share more about their problems and life with parents.

66. Encourage their ideas and creativity

Children will feel proud of themselves when you tell them how great their ideas are. Asking their help when stuck in some family problem will allow them to consider themselves an important part of the family.

70. Show them the right path

To teach them what is good and what is bad strictly saying no or yes to many things is not a good way. Rather teach them thoroughly the good and bad so that they know the positive effects of righteousness on life.

71. Be consistent

Be consistent in your parenting rules so that you can easily see the outcomes that you want in your child.
